Vancouver’s leading immigration lawyer on new rules of temporary foreign workers program

Advocacy groups estimate that as many as 70,000 workers nationwide are affected by the deadline.

Zool Suleman, a prominent immigration lawyer, believes that by changing the rules the federal government is trying to have better control over the new inventory of workers who will arrive into Canada. He also believes that the government might be trying to improve their public perception with the new rules.

“I think they felt that they needed to be seen to be hard,” said Suleman. “It was a very blunt way to reach certain policy objectives.”
