The National Cattle Feeders’ Association (NCFA) and the Canadian Cattle Association (CCA) have submitted a letter to the Senate of Canada regarding concerns with Bill C-282 and the negative impact it will have on Canada’s economy and trade stability.
Canada has worked tirelessly to promote open and rules-based trade in bilateral discussions and international fora. Bill C-282 represents a profound change in that approach.
The Bill is simply bad trade policy and will make it nearly impossible to negotiate new trade agreements in the best interest of all Canadian sectors. And at this juncture, we are incredibly concerned that the Bill waves a dangerous red flag in front of the United States and the upcoming 2026 CUSMA review.
